HBBC - 5 Habits Bloggers Need To Stop

Topic by Noor El Terk

I don't know if being a blogger, there are certain things I should not be doing. I mean why the hell wouldn't it be just a place for random ranting and blabbering.
Oh, I wasn't supposed to say that, was I?
Write down. Mistake number one.

1- Pay attention
To people's thoughts. I know a blog is a place for everyone to say whatever the heck they want to say or what comes to mind and needs blabbering about whatsoever. But knowing that your blog has an audience holds you hellish responsible for what you say. So no, don't blabber, it's not always good for you and others.

2- Life's not all 'I'm sick of.."
Stop whining too much, you'll drive people away, and no I don't mean that you won't have readers. I mean seriously, you might not even have than many friends because the more you whine online the more you whine offline, or at least you'll look gloomy and sad, and believe me, people need no more of those drama queens. Everyone's pain is hard enough for them to handle. Get your shit together.

3- Don't be different
Difference here means going so out of the flow just to make yourself 'OMG I look way cooler than anyone'. Like, don't philosophize too much just to have a different opinion that doesn't make sense even to the most insane people.

4- Everyday? Come on!
Sometimes writing too much makes you write about things that are either too boring, too cliche or just too empty. You don't have to blog everyday, you might as well consume your brain and try to get new ideas that weren't there before, ideas published just to avoid feeling a writer's block. Be easy on yourself, you're not there to amuse people. Your blog, your rules, people who follow you follow your rules.

5- Don't underestimate..
the mind of your reader and don't give them posts that are too long talking about an issue that doesn't need a genius mind to think about. Simplicity is the best example. Writing things in complicated, long words will not make it any easier for you nor for the one reading your words. Be smooth. Simple.

Speaking for Life

“I couldn’t catch the exact word”.
That’s how I’d always tell myself when I say a nearly perfect word for what I see. It sounds so good the instant I say it, and the next moment I drown in a sea of doubt. Will I ever utter the right word? That’s just about everything in life. You live your whole life trying to catch the exact word that reflects your emotions and draws your feelings in the air or in the ear of the person listening to you, but you never really feel like you’ve got it all right and that you’re a master of your own language.
Sometimes when you’re around the people you love, you suddenly find yourself unable to speak lest you hurt their feelings by saying one not-so-accurate phrase. You start stuttering like a fool and saying one word like three times then take it back, say another word, just nearly half of it, then take it back too and give up completely. It’s funny how at that precise moment, the person listening to you usually understands what you really want to say so you start thinking that stuttering is somehow beautiful and then you addict it as if it’s actually a cure to your talking, while it should be some kind of suffering to other people. Strange how the things you think are beautiful can mean the pain of someone else somewhere else in this planet.
You catch your breath for a few moments and sometimes stare at the things around you giving the impression that you’re trying to be inspired by a colourful curtain or a vase or a work of art on the wall, that’s when you realize that in a room full of emptiness, you might not even know how to speak, because even the decorated walls can get you telling the most beautiful words ever.
To wrap it all up, it’s not your mind that speaks the words, it’s also the things around you that speak everything and you’re just a means of communicating what these inanimate objects want to say. So maybe this inability to say that ‘exact word’ is only because you’re actually saying the words inside your surroundings, these things that form who you are, and they’re a part of you, and you a part of them, so you can also be telling what you are feeling. You never know. In the end let’s just presume that speaking, at all, is somehow saying a nearly-exact word.

The Day I Fell For Zusak

I just found myself in Markus Zusak. No kidding.
Zusak got to me with words. He speaks almost everything I want to write, or not write. He speaks silence that I wanted to utter so long ago. He knows the exact words to tear at my heart, to touch my depth.

The Book Thief got to me more than any other book I ever read did. It actually made me read more and appreciate books and words more. It also made me always remember that silence is a great companion when words are devoid of meaning.

I still haven't finished I am The Messenger. I'm loving it so far. Zusak always knows how to relate the protagonist to books and reading. He must connect the two together, perhaps because he sees that a person in a novel must have something for novels. Maybe.

I love you, Zusak!

“Like most misery, it started with apparent happiness.”
The Book Thief

“I have hated words and I have loved them, and I hope I have made them right.”
The Book Thief

“Sometimes you read a book so special that you want to carry it around with you for months after you've finished just to stay near it.”

“Imagine smiling after a slap in the face. Then think of doing it twenty-four hours a day.”
The Book Thief

“Even death has a heart.”
The Book Thief

“I want words at my funeral. But I guess that means you need life in your life.”
The Book Thief

“I think she ate a salad and some soup.
And loneliness.
She ate that, too. ”
I am the Messenger

“Believe it or not--it takes a lot of love to hate you like this.”
I am the Messenger

“It's not a big thing, but I guess it's true--big things are often just small things that are noticed.”
I am the Messenger

“My arms are killing me.
I didn't know words could be so heavy.”
I am the Messenger

“No, I'm not a saint, Sophie. I'm just another stupid human.”
I am the Messenger

“She soon says, "You're my best friend, Ed."
You can kill a man with those words.
No gun.
No bullets.
Just words and a girl.”
I am the Messenger

“Only in today's sick society can a man be persecuted for reading too many books.”
I am the Messenger

“I realize that nothing belongs to her anymore and she belongs to everything.”
I am the Messenger

Art and Artists are two different things!

"This is a post from deep within"

I often wonder about the conclusion or the consequence I will get from writing all those thoughts down on my blogs. I often confuse writing my own thoughts with writing thoughts that would address humanity in a way that is unforgettable, with feelings that are palpable and words that are thinkable. I never got to experience the importance of my writings two years from today; every word was a mere consolation to my own struggles, or shall I say, simple experiences.
I think the first thing that tugs every artist into that precise kind of art is the self-struggle they are put through along the phases of their lives. There is always a need to run away from everything, to find shelter and a beautiful escape into something - and then the escape becomes the addiction, the habit, the talent. Everything then takes a path that we all know: casual pieces (either in music, writing, painting or drawing..etc) that are shared only on a personal level. And then things go step by step until you find yourself unable to be extremely happy UNLESS you're doing your own special art. It's a cure, but only if you know perfectly well how to take advantage of that.
Then you get to a point where you suffer with your incapability to create -- another phase of life probably interferes with your artistic thoughts, and then you either become numb, or you become so miserably exhausted from all the attempts that are left on your desktop or your folder as drafts. Too many draft. Just too many that you sense failure dragging you downwards, though inwardly, you're hysterically addicted. Still are.
This is the point I need to talk about the most in this article; the point where you start questioning your own talent and whether or not it's doing people any good.
Does your music inspire people to write more purposeful lyrics to be sung?
Do your portraits speak about something beautiful God has created, for people to ponder, deeply?
Do your writings hold ideas that can change the world in a way, or lessons and stories that let people know they are never alone? That we're all in this together and all we need is to understand that our thoughts are just about the same in different minds?
Let's face it, many of us never had these purposes when we started loving that artistic difference within us. Perhaps none of us now thinks they can truly, thoroughly change the world with some mere artistic piece. But you know, you can only achieve what you really believe in. Or say, what you really fight for before death's visit, let's just not be idealistic here.
For now, please remember that your art isn't yours, or let's say it's not yours alone. Your art is for the whole world, even if you think it's awful. The way we have different tastes is the reason why artists are still creating, because some people will loathe them, other people will fall in love.
Please right your purposes if they're wrong, or create them if you only use your art for your own consolation. Please put in mind that your art is an important factor in the lives of others. Compose lovingly. Portray inspiringly. Write wholeheartedly.
On a final note, never forget that you're a great source of inspiration to everyone, even if you don't get to see that. Here is me telling you.

Inspire on!

6:59 AM

I know I usually don't post these kinda poems, but I love the simplicity in this poem

6:59 AM - Riley Dog

I’ve been told
that people in the army
do more by 7:00 am
than I do
in an entire day

but if I wake
at 6:59 am
and turn to you
to trace the outline of your lips
with mine
I will have done enough
and killed no one
in the process.

Automatic Writing

Today I was reading a list of psychic abilities and I came across one that I really really like :D

Automatic writing:

Or psychography is writing which the writer states to be produced from a subconscious and/or spiritual source without conscious awareness of the content.

It would be a bit scary to write from a spiritual source. I guess there are always drawbacks.
